BLOGSHOP!

Are you guys familiar with Design Love Fest? It's the blog of LA-based designer Bri Emery, and if you need a dose of color therapy, it's the place to go.

Bri is also the gal behind Blogshop, a weekend-long Photoshop bootcamp for bloggers. She has hosted them in Los Angeles, New York, London, Atlanta, Berlin, Austin, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, and Paris. And Bri leaves no aesthetic stone unturned at these events, curating every aspect from the decor to the food to the hand-picked items for the goodie bags. In case you need photographic evidence here are some pics I snagged from her website...

Exhibit A: Decor...

Exhibit B: Food...

Exhibit C: Swag...

And LOOK what was included in the Seattle Blogshop goodie bags...

Yup, those are my paper ornaments sitting on a pile of cute stuff in the top left. How flattering to be in such good company! Thanks Bri!

STEREOGRANIMATOR

My current obsession? The New York Public Library's
Stereogranimator. I read about it on Design Sponge a couple weeks ago and I have been addicted ever since.

I've always loved the way old stereographs look...and I own several...but I don't have a stereoscope. That's one of those nifty old contraptions that turns the two images into one and makes it look all three dimensional. You know...essentially a Victorian era viewmaster.

But now it doesn't matter thanks to the NYPL's awesome gif maker. They have scanned over 40,000 stereographs that you can choose from. And when you find one that suits your fancy you can turn it into an animated gif which rapidly flashes between the left and right images giving it the intended 3-D effect. Genius!

Here's some of my handiwork...

EXPLORING: GROSSINGER'S RESORT

Yesterday Justin and I went on a mission for possible photo shoot locations. We drove down to Liberty, NY to check out Grossinger's Resort. Or, more specifically, the shell of what once was Grossinger's Resort. It used to be a super sweet summertime destination in the 60s and 70s (see postcard above)...but it eventually closed in 1986 and has been abandoned ever since. The years have not been kind...but there is something undeniably magical about the state of decay.
